Mininova is a search engine and directory with BitTorrent files, a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol. Users can download and upload music, video and other media files to the site. Mininova is the successor to Supernova.org. The site is based in Netherlands. The site says it complies with the law and that they remove files when they get appropriate requests to do so. Representatives from the site will be in court in May 2009 after the local anti-piracy agency BREIN requested that it filter its search results so that unauthorized content is removed.TorrentFreak: Mininova Trial Due in Two Months (March 16, 2009)

To download or upload material from or to the site might be illegal, depending on the location of the user and if the material is copyrighted. In countries where it's illegal download or upload copyrighted material, the site recommends that users only download or upload unlicensed content.
