After its introduction to the market as a 2002 model, the new MINI Cooper was redesigned for the 2007 model year. Initially available in coupe and convertible bodystyles, the lineup was expanded by the 3-door MINI Cooper Clubman in 2008.

    • "Minis may look like economy cars, but they're actually sporty driving machines that brim with character and are available with a dizzying array of personalizing accessories...All handle with the agility of sports cars that cost thousands more. Ride is a sore point on most models, as is rear-seat room on all but the Clubman."

    • "Since its introduction as a 2002 model, the Mini Cooper has offered a satisfying combination of peppy performance, distinctive bulldog appearance, and a wide variety of trim and color options at a very reasonable price. Though significantly re-engineered to meet environmental standards (and BMW's own), the most recent versions haven't changed this success formula, but simply improved on it."

    • "Besides being a blast to drive, reasonably economical, and a cheeky fashion statement, the Clubman's most significant accomplishment is that its increased passenger comfort and extra cargo room make the Mini a real car for more people."
