  • Early History

The Milwaukee bucks were formed in 1968 when Milwaukee Professional Sports and Services, Inc. was awarded a franchise by the NBA. After struggling in their first season, the Bucks drafted Lew Alcindor (later known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar). Alcindor immediately turned the team around as the Bucks finished with 1969-70 season with a 56-26 record, the second best in the league that year. Alcindor would win the NBA Rookie of the Year Award and the Bucks reached the Eastern Conference Finals. The Bucks lost to the Knicks in five games.
