The Major League Baseball team the Milwaukee Brewers play in the National League's Central Division. They play home games at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They have never won a World Series, but did win the American League pennant in 1982. The franchise was originally founded as a minor league team in 1902. In 1969 the team joined the major leagues as the Seattle Pilots. The team was sold just days before the 1970 regular season and were moved to Milwaukee. The Brewers made their first post season appearance in 1981, losing the American League East Divisional Series to the New York Yankees. They returned to the playoffs the following season, clinching the American League pennant then losing to the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1982 World Series.

2009 Story of the Year
With twelve games left in the 2008 season, the Brewers fired head coach Ned Yost. The offseason was a hunt for his replacement. The team considered many different coaches, including former New York Mets skipper Willie Randolph and interim coach Dale Sveum. In the end, the Brewers hired former Oakland Athletics manager Ken Macha.
Macha promptly hired his two biggest competitors for the big job, placing Sveum as the hitting coach and Randolph as his bench coach. Former bullpen coach Bill Castro was promoted to pitching coach when Mike Maddux signed a contract with the Texas Rangers that the Brewers could not match.
