  • The militarization of space is the placement of weaponry and military technology in space. With nuclear proliferation, and the continued development of ballistic missile technology, utilizing space for defense has become a priority for many military powers.
  • Applications

    Military defense is classified by three types of applications. Spy Satellites, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and Network-Centric Warfare (NSW). Spy satellites are used to for high resolution photography, eavesdropping, and covert communications, in search of an advantage in military intelligence. Global Positioning Systems can pinpoint troops and vehicle locations. GPS also allows commanders to view the battle field in real time, aiding NSW, and allowing for greater command and control of military forces.
