Miley Cyrus is an American film and television actress and singer. Her breakthrough role was playing the title character on the Disney Channel show, Hannah Montana, which also stars her father Billy Ray. Hannah Montana helped launch both her film and singing careers. 

During the ends of the 2000s, Cyrus became a target for tabloid and gossip columnists, who reported on Miley's actions during those years. In 2009, Miley deleted her Twitter account because she wanted some privacy. In a YouTube rap video, Miley told fans, “I want my private life private."c

Miley Cyrus broke the all-time record in December of 2009 for having the largest attendance at London’s O2 Arena.c Cyrus performed at the American Music Awards on November 21, 2010. She sang "Forgiveness and Love" on a stage filled with tall candles. She wore a long, dark gown for the performance. The 38th annual American Music Awards were aired live on ABC and took place at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California. Along with Cyrus, artists appearing at the awards show included Ke$ha, Pink, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Usher and others.c

Destiny Hope Cyrus was born in Franklin, Tennessee on November 23, 1992, the daughter of Leticia Finley and country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. Her siblings include two older half-brothers, Christopher Cody and Trace (of the band Metro Station), half-sister, Brandi, younger brother, Braison, and younger sister, Noah. Her nickname Miley, came from the word "smiley," because she smiled all the time.c

Cyrus' debut acting role was a guest spot on her father's television series Doc, in which she played the part of Kylie. In 2003, Cyrus was cast as Young Ruthie in the Tim Burton film Big Fish.c

Cyrus was twelve years old when she auditioned for the lead role of Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana on the sitcom/musical Hannah Montana. Although Disney executives thought she was too small for the role, Cyrus was called back to do another audition, which landed her the part. According to reports, she was chosen because she was full of energy and that she "loves every minute of life."c

In 2009, Cyrus wrote an autobiography titled Miles to Go in which she discloses details of her life, including her experiences with school bullies as well as her relationship with Nick Jonas. Cyrus stated that she included the intimate details of her life because she wants her fans "to feel closer" to her.c
