Joan Crawford earned an Academy Award for her role as the ambitious titular heroine in the classic dramatic film Mildred Pierce.
Plot Summary

After divorcing her unfaithful husband, Mildred Pierce is determined to give her daughter Vega the best of what life has to offer. Mildred works her way up from a waitress to the owner of a successful restaurant chain and marries a wealthy socialize in order to provide Vega with a bright future. However, Vega resists her mother's love and affection and Mildred must ultimately decide how far she will go to protect her daughter.
