Milan Michalek

Milan Michalek is a professional hockey player originally from the Czech Republic. He currently plays for the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League.

Prior to his NHL career, Michalek played junior hockey in the Czech Republic, starting in 1999. He was drafted sixth overall in the 2003 NHL Draft by the San Jose Sharks. He played a total of nine games his first season between the Sharks and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Cleveland Barons, after knee injuries kept him out of the lineups. He used the off time during the 2004-05 NHL Lockout to let his knee injuries heal, then returned to the Sharks full strength in 2005. During the 2006-07 regular season, Michalek scored a career high 26 goals and 40 assists in 78 games.
