  • Finnish professional ice hockey player Mikko Koivu plays for the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League. He is the younger brother of Montreal Canadiens all-star and team captain Saku Koivu.
  • NHL Career

    Koivu was drafted sixth overall in the 2001 NHL Draft by the Minnesota Wild. He continued to play in Finland for three seasons after the draft before joining the Houston Aeros of the[American Hockey League in 2004. Koivu made his NHL debut with the Wild in 2005 and re-signed with the franchise in 2007 to a four-year $13 million contract.
