Linebacker Mike Vrabel plays professional football in the National Football League for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Vrabel was traded by the New England Patriots to the Chiefs on February 27, 2009, in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick.
College Football Career
Prior to playing in the NFL, Vrabel played college football with the Ohio State Buckeyes. Starting in each game since his freshman season, Vrabel set school records for the most sacks, at 36, and the most tackles for a loss, at 66. He was honored for his performance with All-American and All-Big Ten selections, as well as being picked as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year for two seasons.
NFL Career
After college, Vrabel was selected 91st overall in the 1997 NFL draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He made his professional debut with the Steelers that same year and played a total of four seasons with the Steelers. Vrabel signed with the New England Patriots in 2001. He helped the Patriots win three Super Bowls in founr seasons, winning Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002, Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004 and Super Bowl XXXIX in 2005. Vrabel also earned his first Pro Bowl selection with the Patriots in 2007.
