    Ribeiro was drafted out of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League 45th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1998 NHL Draft. He made his NHL debut in 1999 and split his first few seasons between the Canadiens and their American Hockey League affiliates. During the 2004-05 NHL Lockout, Ribeiro played for the Espoo Blues of the SM-Liiga in Finland. After one more season in Montreal, Ribeiro was traded on September 30, 2006 to the Dallas Stars. He re-signed with the Stars to a one year contract worth a reported $2.8 million in 2007. He has since renewed that contract, signing a five year contract with the Stars in early 2008. He was also selected for his first NHL All-Star Game in 2008.
