Mike Napoli is a professional baseball player for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Napoli was originally drafted right out of high school by the Angels on June 5, 2000 in the 17th round of the MLB Draft. He was placed with the Angels' minor league affiliates for his first few years.
On May 4, 2006, he was called up to make his MLB debut, where he became one of only three players in Angels history to hit a homerun at his first time at bat in the Majors. He played in 99 games his rookie season, hitting 47 runs and 16 homeruns in 268 attempts at bat.
He re-joined the Angels for the 2007 season, playing in 75 games and finishing with a .247 batting average. He also made his first post season appearance with the Angels in 2007, where they lost the American League Divisional Series to the eventual World Series Champion Boston Red Sox.
He is expected to share the catching duties for the Angels in the 2008 season with his close friend, Jeff Mathis.
