Mike Mignola is a popular comic book artist and writer. He is the creator of Hellboy, Lobster Johnson and The Amazing Screw-On Head. Hellboy was adapted for film by Mignola and director Guillermo del Toro.
Mignola started his comics career in the early 80s. He was an inker for Marvel Comics, working on such titles as Daredevil and The Incredible Hulk. During this time, he also contributed covers to DC's Batman: A Death in the Family and pencils to Gotham by Gaslight.
The first Hellboy story, drawn by Mignola and scripted by John Byrne, was published by Dark Horse Comics in 1994. Following the series' debut, Mignola took over the scripting.
In 2006, the Sci-Fi Channel aired an animated pilot based on Mignola's one-shot comic The Amazing Screw-On Head.
