Mike Krzyzewski, better known as "Coach K", has been the head coach at Duke University since 1981. He coaches with a passion that is absorbed by his team. Mike played for U.S.Army with Bobby Knight as his coach. On March 1, 2008 he achieved his 800th career victory. Only one other coach has accomplished this feat.
"The Economy, Stupid"
In March 2009, after the media reported on Barack Obama's NCAA bracket strategy, Krzyzewski was reported by FOX News as saying "Somebody said that we're not in President Obama's Final Four, and as much as I respect what he's doing, really, the economy is something that he should focus on, probably more than the brackets." While Krzyzewski did says this, it was later reported that the quote was followed by a laugh, suggesting the coach had only meant it in jest.FOXNews.com: Duke Basketball Coach Has a Message For President Obama
