MLB Career
Hampton was drafted in 1990 by the Seattle Mariners but didn't actually play in the major leagues until 1993. First year was a very disappointing year and was traded to the Houston Astros. Then in 2000 he played a year for the New York Mets, but was traded once again to the Colorado Rockies. There Colorado offered him the 22nd highest contract in the history of sports. Again he was traded along with his contract to the Atlanta Braves.
With a disappointing start, the pitching coach was hoping to turn things around. Recurring elbow pain sent him back to see Dr. David Altchek, who had performed his Tommy John surgery in 2005. It was announced that Hampton had undergone the surgery on his left shoulder and missed all of the 2007 season. Because of all his injuries Hampton he has not pitched in a major league game since 2005 but is planning on making a comeback.
