Mike Commodore

Canadian professional hockey player Mike Commodore is a defenseman for the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League.

Commodore was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the second round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft and led the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux to the NCAA Championship before joining the Devils in the 2000-2001 season. He split the next two seasons between playing for the Devils and their American Hockey League affiliate before being traded to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the summer or 2002.

Commodore spent the majority of the season again playing in the AHL and was traded to the Calgary Flames late in the 2002-2003 season. He played most of the next two seasons in the AHL, but was called up for 20 games and proved himself a valuable asset when the Flames reached the final round of the 2004 Stanley Cup playoffs.

After the locked out 2004-2005 season, Commodore signed with the Carolina Hurricanes with whom he played his first full NHL season and again proved himself an effective defender throughout the regular and post seasons, when the Hurricanes became the 2006 Stanley Cup Champions. He spent the start of the next season in Carolina and was traded to the Ottawa Senators in February of 2008.
