  • Miguel Tejada reportedly has been named as one of the players in Baseball's Mitchell Report to have used performance enhancing drugs.

On February 10, 2009, Tejada was charged with lying to a congressional committee about whether his teammates at Baltimore and Oakland used anabolic steroids and human growth hormone (HGH). On August 26, 2005, Tejada met with the congressional Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and told them that he had never used steroids and had no knowledge of other players who might have used it. In September 2005, Rafael Palmeiro, who was under investigation for steroid use himself, named Tejada as a steroid user and a full investigation into the claims was launched. He was initially reported innocent of these allegations; but Tejada was named in the 2007 Mitchell Report and is currently under investigation again for steroid use.

The Mitchell Report and additional federal investigations resulted in charges sent down on February 10, 2009, that Tejada knew that at last one player had used HGH and steroids; that Tejada had paid this player over $6,000 to purchase HGH. The charges do not know whether Tejada used the HGH.Baltimore Sun: Tejada charged with lying to congressional committee (February 10, 2009)
