  • Major League Baseball catcher Miguel Olivo currently plays for the Kansas City Royals.

    Olivo signed as an undrafted amateur free agent on September 30, 1996 with the Oakland Athletics. He played with the Athletics' minor league affiliates for his first three seasons. On December 13, 2000, Olivo was traded to the Chicago White Sox, where he again joined their minor league team.

    On September 15, 2002, Olivo was called up to make his MLB debut with the White Sox. He joined the White Sox for a total of six games his rookie season. In 2003, Olivo earned a full roster spot with the White Sox, where he continued to play until half way through the 2004 season.

    Olivo was traded on June 27, 2004, to the Seattle Mariners, where he stayed for just over one year. On July 31, 2005, he was again traded, this time to the San Diego Padres, where he finished the 2005 season. He made his first post season appearance with the Padres, where they lost the 2005 National League Divisional Series to the St. Louis Cardinals.

    After entering free agency in December 2005, Olivo signed with the Florida Marlins on January 3, 2006. He played a total of two seasons for the Marlins, averaging 125 games each year.

    Olivo signed as a free agent with the Kansas City Royals on December 27, 2007.
