    Miguel Jesus Cairo was born in Anzoategui State, Venezuela on May 4, 1974. In 1990, Cairo would sign as a free agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
  • Pro Career

    Cairo would make his Major League debut on April 17, 1996 with the Toronto Blue Jays. He would then be selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the Expansion draft in 1997. In 2001, Cairo would sign as a free agent with the Oakland Athletics. He was then traded to the Chicago Cubs for Eric Hinske.The [[St. Louis Cardinals would then claim him off waivers to help with their playoff run. In 2003, he would sign with the New York Yankees where he would establish himself as a key role player and for a period was the team's starting second baseman. He would enjoy several stints with the club, usually as a role player and veteran presence in the locker room. In 2008, Cairo would sign a one year contract with the Seattle Mariners.
