He is a right handed thrower and hitter who has exceptional athletic ability for a man standing 6'4" tall and weighing in at 240 pounds.
Miguel was born April 18, 1983 in Maracay, Venezuela where he, his wife Rosangel and their daughter Rosangel Jr. still make their off-season home. He made his Major League debut on June 20, 2003 with the Florida Marlins as a left fielder.
While playing for the Marlins, Cabrera was selected to the National League All Star team from 2004 through 2007. He also earned player of the week honors 4 times and was name a Silver Slugger in 2005 and 2006.
Miguel donated $90,000 to Project Medishare for Haiti, Inc. to help provide medical relief for those affected by the earthquake in Haiti. He is also actively involved in charity and community organizations in the Detroit area, and participated in the Tigers' Winter Caravan.

Guaranteed a roster spot on the big league team, Cabrera used Spring Training to re-dedicate himself to Major League baseball and prepare himself for the upcoming season and had gotten off to a hot start for the Tigers.
Miguel has gotten off to a hot start for the Tigers. After 18 games he has 5 home runs, and leads the league with 24 RBIs. He is hitting .363 and has contributed 9 doubles to the Tiger attack. His defense at 1st base has been sparkling with numerous diving stops and he has shown an improved ability to pick errant throws out of the dirt. The Tigers are expecting a lot out of their cleanup hitter and he has not disappointed them.

Cabrera played for the Detroit Tigers and was a key cog in their lineup as they held first place in their division for most of the year, before falling to the Minnesota Twins in an extra inning one game playoff.
He placed 3rd in the American League with a .324 batting average and recorded 100 RBIs for a 6th consecutive season. Miguel was also 3rd in the American League with 334 total bases.

2008 Season
Miguel was involved in an eight player trade that sent him from the Florida Marlins to the Detroit Tigers along with Dontrelle Willis. In return, the Marlins received the Tiger's top prospects Andrew Miller and Cameron Maybin. Also going to Florida were Mike Rabelo, Dallas Trahern, Eulogio de la Cruz and Blake Badenhop. In his first season as a Tiger, Cabrera won the American League Home Run championship and produced another 100 RBI season. Manager Jim Leyland also moved Cabrera from 3rd base to 1st base where the team expects him to flourish.
2007 Season
As a Florida Marlin, Cabrera was selected to the National League All Star team for a 4th time. He also knocked in 100 runs for the 4th consecutive year and finished with a .320 batting average. Cabrera produced 36 Doubles and 37 Home Runs for the Marlins.
2006 Season
Miguel produced a .339 batting average, 26 Home Runs, 50 Doubles and 114 RBIs for his Florida team. He was also named to the National League All Star team. Cabrera made the conversion from left-field to full time 3rd baseman, and at after the first month of the season led all NL third basemen in fielding from May 1 on, committing just 11 errors, the fewest in the National League.
2005 Season
Cabrera produced a .323 batting average to go along with 33 Home Runs, 43 doubles and 116 RBIs. He was named to the National League All Star team and became the youngest player in Major League history to post back to back 30 home run seasons. His Post Season honors included being named a Silver Slugger and placing 5th in National League MVP voting
2004 Season
e was named to his first MLB All Star team. He dove in 112 runs while hitting 33 Home Runs and 31 doubles. He was also voted the Marlins Most Valuable Player by the South Florida Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America
