  • "Migrant Mother" is an iconic American black-and-white photograph taken by photographer Dorothea Lange in 1936 in Nipoma, California. The photograph portrays a mother, later identified as Florence Owens Thompson, and three of her seven children. The photo became one of the most prized images of the Great Depression era. "Migrant Mother" was one of six photographs of Thompson taken by Lange.
