  • Middlemarch is a nineteenth century novel written by George Eliot. Set in a fictional English town, it is widely considered to be the author's masterpiece, and a classic of the Victorian Era.

    The plot revolves around Dorothea Brooke a generous and optimistic woman who often works to help the less financially fortunate. She chooses to marry a man that turns out not to be who she thought he was.
