The Microsoft Pink Phone is the latest smartphone that Microsoft have been developing recently. Expected to be released in Q2 of 2010 the Pink Phone should be available in a range of colors. The Pink Phone is said to operate on Windows Mobile 7.
Microsoft bought the device manufacturer Danger, Inc., the company which made the Sidekick, in 2008 in a move to attempt to help out its smart phone software business. Microsoft has been struggling to keep up with its competitors in the area. Microsoft mobile software ran on only 13.1 percent of smart phones sold in the United States in 2009 according to In-Stat, a research company. That put Microsoft in third place behind Research In Motion Ltd's BlackBerry software and Apple Inc.'s iPhone operating system. Microsoft has been losing share in recent years while competitors Apple and Google Inc., maker of the Android operating system, have been gaining share.http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5gsDUPaibsYKq6IPC4sICwMDfGRcAD9F1F7NG0

As far as looks go, the Pink phones look a bit on the chunkier side, not all that good, that is. Turtle resembles Palm Pre, and Pure looks like a standard slider phone, a plump one, though. Both have slide-out QWERTY keypads that are seemingly comfortable to use. The screens look functional enough with their ample sizes. They are apparently touchscreens, probably high-end with a 800×480 pixel resolution. 3MP cameras could be housed by both, and there is even a hint at WiFi, 3G and Bluetooth. http://www.mobilephonereviews.org/category/windows-phone/
To meet the Windows Mobile 7 standards Redmond has laid down, the Microsoft Pink smartphone would have to run with a multitouch WVGA+ screen 3.5 inches in size or greater, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3MP or greater camera, a compass, accelerometer and 3.5mm audio jack.
Those specs aren’t exactly cutting edge, but the list mention that NVIDIA’s Tegra platform and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chip meet the CPU requirements, meaning that a Microsoft Pink smartphone could pack powerful graphics, just like the Zune HD is believed to. http://www.electricpig.co.uk/2009/05/13/microsoft-pink-smartphone-specced/
