About Microsoft Bing
Bing differs functionally and cosmetically from both Live Search and its competitor Google. Bing varies search results according to the subject of the search, and pulls in more content from other sources than search engines have conventionally done. Its features include a navigation panel with which the user can switch between different kinds of searches, summarized contents of search results, and pop-up windows that show the search query keywords in the context of the page.CNET News: How Microsoft's Bing came to be (May 28, 2009)Reviews
Early reviews of Bing were mixed but positive, noting that it is in some ways more user-friendly than Google, and frequently displays more information from search results. According to CNET, Bing arranges and displays information in ways that "make Google look complacent," but Google's results are often "more relevant and useful."CNET: Microsoft Bing: Much better than expected (May 28, 2009) According to WIRED, Bing's interface is more confusing than Google's, but the way it summarizes information for shopping, travel and local search may be superior.WIRED: Microsoft's New Search Engine: Bing, But No Boom(May 28, 2009)About this page
