Retired center Mick Tingelhoff played for the Minnesota Vikings from 1962 to 1978. During his career, he never missed a game, starting 240 consecutive times.
Road To The National Football League
After graduating from high school, Tingelhoff entered the University of Nebraska and played football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers for four seasons. After he graduated, Tingelhoff entered the NFL Draft, but was not drafted, signing with the Minnesota Vikings as a free agent in 1962.
Professional Career
Tingelhoff started at center behind quarterback Fran Tarkenton for the Minnesota Vikings during his rookie season and never gave up the starting position in his seventeen-year career. He was named All Pro seven consecutive seasons and was named to the Pro Bowl team six consecutive years from 1964 to 1969. Tingelhoff started in four Super Bowls: Super Bowl IV in 1970, Super Bowl VIII in 1974, Super Bowl IX in 1975 and Super Bowl XI in 1977. Following the 1978 season, Tingelhoff retired. He was named to the Minnesota Vikings Ring of Honor in 2001.
