Early Years
When Shocked was growing up her family moved frequently, following her step-father's army transfers. In 1977, she went to live with her father. She moved to Amsterdam in 1984, returning to the United States in 1986.CMT: Michelle Shocked Biography -
Career
In 1988, Shocked signed with Mercury Records. Iin 1995, she took legal action to get out of her contract with them. In 2002, she performed on her own label, Mighty Sound.
