  • Michal Handzus is a professional ice hockey player who currently plays for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League.
  • Early Years

    Handzus began playing junior hockey in his native Slovakia in 1993. He was was drafted 101st overall in the 1995 NHL Draft by the St. Louis Blues. He continued to play in Slovakia for several seasons, including in the World Ice Hockey Championships. Handzus spent one season with the Blues' American Hockey League affiliate, then made his NHL debut in 1998. He continued in St. Louis for the next couple years, then was traded to the Phoenix Coyotes on March 13, 2001.
  • Recent Years

    In 2002, Handzus played in his first Winter Olympics. A few months later the Coyotes traded him to the Philadelphia Flyers, on June 12, 2002. He also returned to Slovakia during the 2004-05 NHL Lockout, playing for the HKm Zvolen. Handzus continued with the Flyers through the 2005-06 regular season, then was traded again, this time to the Chicago Blackhawks on August 4, 2006. He played just a single season in Chicago before signing a four year contract as a free agent with the Los Angeles Kings on July 2, 2007.
