Michael Vick Reinstatement

Categories: Sports | Football | Atlanta Falcons
  • Quarterback Michael Vick was conditionally reinstated by National Football League Comissioner Roger Goodell on July 27, 2009.

The conditional release means should Vick sign with a team, he is permitted to participate in training camp and all activities except for games through the first five weeks of the 2009 season. He will be eligible for full reinstatement in week six, which if granted would allow him to participate in games. At the time of the announcement, Vick was not under contract with any team.

Vick was indefinitely suspended from the league in 2007 after he was indicted on federal charges of dogfighting. He served 18 months in a federal prison before he was released to home confinement on July 20, 2009.
