On August 27, 2007, NFL quarterback Michael Vick pleaded guilty to federal charges of dog fighting and illegal gambling activities. On November 25, 2008, Vick pleaded guilty to a Virginia state count of dog fighting and not guilty of one count of cruelty to animals. He received a three-year suspended sentence.
