Michael Stipe has his own production companies called C-00 and Cell Pictures. In 1998 Stipe produced many indie movies with Single Cell Pictures, and the other production company C-00 helped to produce the movies ‘’Being John Malkovich’’ and ‘’Man on the Moon’’. He is no stranger to television either, having played himself on Sesame Street and did the voice of his character on an episode of Homer Simpson.

The Early Years
Named John Michael Stipe was born on January 4, 1960 and his family moved around frequently due to the military commitments of his father who was in the Army. He graduated from high school in Collinsville, Illinois in 1978, and moved back to Georgia to attend college.
Michael Stipe formed a band with his friend Peter Buck, the duo was soon joined by Bill Berry and Mike Mills. The four men were without a name but one day when Stipe was looking in a dictionary he chose the band name at random and they became R.E.M. By 1980, all the members had quit college and focused on the band and their brand of music.

R.E.M has released fourteen albums, nine collection albums of their best hits, one extended album and tons of singles many of which have went gold. They have also created 56 musical videos, which are aired on television. http://remhq.com/albums.php
