Michael Ryder

Professional ice hockey player Michael Ryder plays right wing for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League.

Ryder underwent facial surgery to repair three fractures in the orbital bone between his eyes on February 9, 2009, and is expected to miss three weeks of playing time recovering.ESPN.com: Ryder Recovering From Facial Surgery

Ryder was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens during the eighth round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He joined Montreal for the 2003-2004 season and finished the season as the top rookie in shots, goals, points and power play points. After playing overseas in Sweden during the locked out 2004-2005 season, he returned to score 30 goals in each of the next two seasons.

Ryder became the first player in Canadiens' history and the 15th in NHL history to score 10 power play goals in each of his first three seasons.

During the 2007-2008 season, which was his fourth with the NHL, Ryder played his 300th NHL game, earned his 100th career assist and 200th point.
