  • Hockey Career

    Nylander began his hockey career in Sweden, playing for the Huddinge IK starting in 1989. He was selected 59th overall in the 1991 NHL draft by the Hartford Whalers. Nylander made his NHL debut in 1992 and played two seasons before he was traded to the Calgary Flames on March 10, 1994. He was limited to just six games during the 1994-1995 season with injuries, but went on to join the Flames for two additional seasons. In 1999, Nylander was sent to the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he played 35 games before he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks. He then went to the Washington Capitals in 2002, missing much of the 2003-2004 season with a leg injury. After a 15 game stay with the Boston Bruins in 2004, Nylander signed as a free agent with the New York Rangers on August 10, 2004. His contract expired with the Rangers in 2007 and he returned to the Capitals as a free agent on July 2, 2007.Legends of Hockey: Michael Nylander
