  • Julien's Auction house announced in December 2008 that it would be hosting a live auction of items from the estate of singer Michael Jackson on April 21 - 25, 2009.     A portion of the proceeds from the auction will go to the MusiCares Foundation, a charity established by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences to help musicians in times of financial crisis.   • Jackson's Lawsuit

    In March 2009, Jackson filed a lawsuit to stop the auction, saying he had not given permission to sell some of the "priceless and irreplaceable" items. The auction house, Julien's Auctions, said that up until then, Jackson's representatives enthusiastically supporting the sale.     Court records say that Jackson's representatives contacted Julien in July 2008. Items have been removed over the past few months, and Jackson's employees have been involved in the publicity.
