Julien's Auction house announced in December 2008 that it would be hosting a live auction of items from the estate of singer Michael Jackson on April 21 - 25, 2009. Many unusual items will be offered to the highest bidder at the Michael Jackson auction. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will go to the MusiCares Foundation, a charity established by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences to help musicians in times of financial crisis. Court records say that Jackson's representatives contacted Julien in July 2008. Items have been removed over the past few months, and Jackson's employees have been involved in the publicity.
