  • Canadian author, human rights expert and politician Michael Ignatieff is the leader of Canada's opposition Liberal Party. Shortly after the coalition between the New Democrats, the Bloc Quebecois and the Liberals was quashed by Prime Minister Stephen Harper's successful suspension of Parliament until January of 2009, Liberal Leader Stephane Dion announced his resignation.
