• Career

  Although Franti began playing in bands while still in college, it wasn't until he teamed up with jazz guitarist Charlie Hunter and formed the band The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy that he began to attract the attention of music critics and fans. After that band parted ways, Franti went on to form Michael Franti and Spearhead, which has given him a vehicle for politically charged messages with a more reggae-influenced sound).
