Michael Ealy was born in Silver Spring, Maryland. After graduating from the University of Maryland, Ealy decided to pursue a career in acting .

He first appeared in a few off-Broadway productions and soon began to land film work such as Fast Company and Kissing Jessica Stein. His big break came in 2002 when he was offered the role of Ricky Nash in the movie Barbershop.

Since then he has appeared in a number of films and a music video of Mariah Carey's. From 2005 to 2006, he starred in the Showtime series Sleeper Cell and was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance.
