Career
In 1999, Hall landed the role of the emcee in the Broadway revival production of Cabaret. He replaced Tony Award winner Alan Cumming who originated the role in the revival production.
Hall was cast as the gay funeral director David Fisher on the TV series Six Feet Under. He played the role through five seasons, and was nominated for an Emmy for his performance in 2002.
In 2006 he took on the role of Dexter Morgan in the TV series Dexter. His character is a police forensics expert who kills criminals that he feels have managed to escape justice. He won a Golden Globe in 2010 and a SAG Award in 2009 for his performance.
