  • Major League Baseball outfielder Michael Bourn currently plays with the Houston Astros.

    Bourn was originally drafted on June 5, 2000 by the Houston Astros, but chose to study broadcasting and play at the University of Houston instead. After his junior year he was drafted again, on June 3, 2003 by the Philadelphia Phillies and was immediately placed with their minor league affiliates. After two and a half seasons in the minors, Bourn was called up to the majors.

    He made his MLB debut on July 30, 2006 with the Philadelphia Phillies. Just over two months later he took a leave of absence from the Phillies to play with the USA Olympic qualifying team. In 2007 he earned a full roster spot with the Phillies, playing in 105 games and hitting 29 runs in 119 attempts at bat. Bourn also made his first post season appearance in 2007, playing with the Phillies as they lost the National League Divisional Series to the Colorado Rockies.

    On November 7, 2007 he was traded to the Houston Astros, where he is expected to be on the full time roster for the 2008 season.
