  • Michael Arcand is a freelance writer and blogger who has worked with a variety of online media companies (including Mahalo) since leaving his regular full-time employment in June of 2007. He has authored several blogs ranging in topic from the Christian religion and being a work-at-home dad (WAHD) to the latest trend of Internet social marketing. His first e-book on working from home is due out in 2009.

  • Life and Career

    Michael Arcand entered the military in 1991, serving four years in the U.S. Army in both Germany and Texas. Following his honorable discharge, Arcand found work installing satellite televisions. However, with the boon of the DSS systems, installation service needs dropped off dramatically. In the spring of 1997 he began work with TeleQuest Teleservices, an outbound telemarketing agency. Within two years he was managing his own call center in Wichita Falls, Texas with over 300 employees.

    Following the sale of TeleQuest to India's Essar Group from Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Arcand moved on to work with Bunker Plastics in the field of plastic thermoforming and vacuum metallization. After almost five years on the job and promotions to first quality and then shipping manager, he finally knew what he had to do.

    On June 19, 2007, Michael Arcand walked out of his full-time employment and into the world of self-employment and freelancing, never to return to regular work.
