Miami University is a public university offering undergraduate and graduate degrees. The school's athletic programs participate as part of the Mid-American Conference. It was one of the original eight public Ivy League schools, not to be confused with the Ivy League.
University History
The school was originally founded in 1809 and named after the Native American tribe that occupied the area at the time. Financial troubles forced the school to close in 1873. It was reopened in 1885 and has continued to grow in the years since.
