American actress Mia Farrow starred in the movie Rosemary's Baby as Rosemary Woodhouse and appeared in several Woody Allen films in the 1980s. She appeared on the first cover of People Magazine and was the first American actress to be accepted into the Royal Shakespeare Company. Farrow is a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF.

Farrow announced her plans to began a "hunger strike" in Darfur on April 27, 2009, stating that her efforts will be "a personal expression of outrage at a world that is somehow able to stand by and watch innocent men, women and children needlessly die of starvation, thirst and disease." Daughter's Death
