  • MGMT, originally known as The Management, are Andrew Vanwyngarden and Ben Goldwasser. The duo released the album, Oracular Spectacular, in 2007.

    MGMT is demanding some sort of compensation from French president Nicolas Sarkozy after Sarkozy used their song "Kids" at a political rally and in two online campaign videos. Sarkozy's representatives apologized for the "mistake" and offered to pay the duo a "symbolic gesture" of one Euro. MGMT's attorney has rejected the offer, saying "This offer is disrespectful of the rights of artists and authors. It is insulting."Perez Hilton: Indie Group MGMT... (February 27, 2009)

    Originally, calling themselves "The Management," VanWyngarden and Goldwasser began playing together while attending Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. They was singed to a four album deal with Columbia Records in 2006. Their album, Oracular Spectacular, was recorded with Flaming Lips producer Dave Fridmann and released in 2007.
