- Stay locked on to him.
- Sidestep right as he's charging toward you.
- Keep positioning yourself behind him after he charges to make him have to spin around and search for you.
- Morph Ball roll out if he happens to corner you.

- TIP: An open mouth shot will send him reeling and he will expose a soft spot in his chest plating.
- Hit him with another Super Missile as quickly as possible.
- Repeat this process.
- Next time he opens his mouth to breathe fire, have your Wave Beam ready and charged.
- Activate the Wavebuster Beam by hitting the Y-button in sync.

- Fire upon the Fission Metroid, one of the smartest and most deadly Metroids.
- NOTE: This Metroid splits in two when fired upon, creating two new Metroids with specific weaknesses; red Metroids are harmed by Plasma, yellow by Power Beam, purple by Wave, and gray with Ice.
- TIP: Charged shots with each of these weapons do the trick, but Power Bombs will take care of each as they destroy anything within range of their blast. As your supply of Power Bombs will be limited, only use them when you need to take care of multiple Fission Metroids.
- Platform to the top of the Phazon Core.
- Recharge your missile supply at the missile station on the way.
- Get to the door at the top of the room and enter Crater Tunnel B.

- Boss: Metroid Prime (Shell)
- Scan and greet Metroid Prime.
- TIP: Extremely intelligent, adaptable and strong, it is equipped with a tractor beam, caustic breath with the precision of a laser, and gas bombs. Stay alert!
- Stay relatively close to avoid projectile attacks, but not close enough to take direct swats.
- NOTE: Prime will adapt to your weapons by morphing its shell.
- Each color shell is vulnerable to one type of weapon. Keeping up with shell changes is the most difficult part of the fight. Memorize how to access your Beams.
- Charge your attacks.
- Stay locked on the small opening near its face.
- Use your ultra-powered weapons, e.g., Super Missiles, Wavebuster, Ice Spreader, Flamethrower.
- TIP: Be careful not to drain your missile count.
- After dealing a few good blows, Prime will charge.
- Roll into ball form.
- Use the crevices in the ground to avoid him.

- NOTE: Phazon will drip from the core, collecting on the ground under him.
- Double-jump over the waves of energy it sends your way.
- Ignore the Metroids he summons unless they latch on or become a big problem. Then you will need to set a Power Bomb to clear them out. You may even find they leave some energy or ammunition behind.
- Eventually Prime disappears.
- Flip through your visors to find him.
- TIP: Prime cloaks himself based on the last visor you were using. Make it a havit to look around while cycling through your visors.
- Once locked on to him in cloaked form, step into the pool of Phazon.
- The Phazon bonds with Samus's Phazon Suit, sending her into hyper mode.
- This devastates Prime until the pools of Phazon dry.
- Keep repeating this process until Core is done.
- Once you've depleted all of its energy, you've beaten the game.
- NOTE: Depending on your percent completion, you will get one of three endings. The endings are similar for the most part, with just a few small differences.
