Metric is an indie pop rock group led bysinger-songwriter Emily Haines. Their music is best described as a mix between new wave and modern dance rock.

Other Projects
While Metric can hardly be called a side project, Metric is not the only project of band leader Emily Haines. Along with guitarist James Shaw and several other musicians, Haines is a member of the Canadian indie supergroup Broken Social Scene, bringing her haunting vocals to some of the band's most memorable songs. She also has a solo project, playing under the name Emily Haines and the Soft Skeleton; much her solo music is much more minimalist than her work with Metric or Broken Social Scene, with only Haines singing to little or no more accompaniment than her piano. -
