Methadone

Methadone is one of the opioid family of drugs. It is commonly used as a maintenance drug for heroin and other opioid addicts. It is extremely effective in treating severe and/or chronic pain.

Because of its euphoric rush and withdrawal symptoms, heroin dependence is an extremely difficult drug addiction to break. When taken orally, methadone staves off withdrawal symptoms while blocking the heroin "rush". 66% of methadone patients have significantly lower involvement in drugs and crime.
