Meteorites are objects from space that survive Earth's atmosphere and crash into the planet's surface. Meteorites are commonly divided into three categories: iron meteorites, which are composed of metallic iron-nickel, stony meteorites, which are rocks composed of silicate minerals, and stony-iron meteorites, which are composed of a combination of the materials from the other categories.
