Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (abbreviated as MGS4) is a stealth-based video game in the Metal Gear series developed exclusively for the PS3.

Gameplay
Navigate the game world as Solid Snake in traditional third person view, using stealth and cunning, in addition to traditional combat, to progress. Freedom to play in first-person mode, as well as an over the shoulder view which can be switched from right shoulder to left, are also provided.- Interrogate guards for information and supplies
- New form of camouflage called "Octocamo" allows the wearer to blend in with any surface within a few seconds
- Monocular device called "Solid Eye" replaces various binoculars and image intensifiers from previous titles
- Steel drum disguise is able to deflect bullets, and can be rolled to knock enemy soldiers over
- Press the circle button on the controller when prompted to view cut-scenes that explain what happened in previous MGS games and its relationship to the events of MGS4
Storyline
Set after the "Big Shell Incident" of Metal Gear Solid 2 in 2015-2016, Metal Gear Solid 4 portrays a world where the restriction of military intervention on foreign soil has been eased, fueling the need for private military companies (PMCs) to fight proxy wars for business purposes. The five largest PMCs are owned by Outer Haven company, operated by Liquid Ocelot. With Liquid preparing to launch an armed insurrection, the world is once again in crisis. Roy Campbell, commanding office of Snake, orders him to the Middle East to eliminate Liquid Snake.
