The Investigation
The investigation began in July 2008 when the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Cyber Crimes Unit traced a credit card used to purchase child pornography back to Merton Parks. Parks had used the card to pay for the pornography, which he downloaded to a computer inside the church. Parks had been the interim pastor at the First Baptist church in Oswegatchie, New York but resigned after the trustees of the church learned of the investigation and demanded he leave. He was subsequently arrested and charged and originally plead not guilty. He changed his tune in May 2009 however and plead guilty as charged.News 10 Now: Church reacts to pastor's arrest (October 10, 2008)
