Mercedes Sosa was a Latin Grammy Award-winning folk singer from Argentina whose career spanned more than five decades and included more than 70 albums. Sosa was known for singing songs that championed the rights of the poor and underprivileged.
The 74-year-old Sosa died on October 4, 2009, after being hospitalized in Buenos Aires for several weeks.
