<p>Just call me "Lieutenant Commander Data". Everyone else does.</p><p>When I was six, my parents got a sample copy of the World Book Encyclopedia - just the A volume. I reread it several times. My dad brought home my grandmother's old set of the Encyclopedia Britannica (1969 edition), and by the time I was seven, I'd read it cover to cover. I followed that up with the American Heritage Dictionary, but I never read the pronunciation guide. The result? I have a huge vocabulary, but don't have the first clue how to pronounce any of it.</p>
<p>The most fun I've had in every job I've worked over the years (including DJing, technical work, photography, journalism, and documentary TV) was when they asked me to research something. Just before I graduated from Harvard, I wrote in my diary that I'd like to be paid to do nothing but research. "Yeah, but who'd ever ask me to do that?" I wrote.</p>
<p>And then I found <a href="/Mahalo" mce_href="/Mahalo">Mahalo</a> .</p><p>Since I've come here, I've gotten to work on a number of different topics of interest to me. I did the <a href="/Cholesterol%20Management" mce_href="/Cholesterol Management">Cholesterol Management</a> search results page immediately after learning I had high cholesterol, and I learned a lot about things I could do to remedy the problem. My favorite kitchen appliance is my <a href="/Rice%20Cookers" mce_href="/Rice Cookers">rice cooker</a> , so naturally it was one of my first search results pages. I love recommending my favorite restaurants to others, as I have with one pick on the <a href="/Venice%20Restaurants" mce_href="/Venice Restaurants">Venice Restaurants</a> page, which includes one of my favorite restaurants in the world. Venice is a city that was nearly destroyed in the mid-1600s by something I've been intrigued by for years: <a href="/Plague" mce_href="/Plague">the plague</a> , a page I was very excited to work on. </p><p>But how could I be a good Star Trek geek without writing a page on the <a href="http://www.mahalo.com/Klingon_%28language%29" mce_href="http://www.mahalo.com/Klingon_%28language%29">Klingon language</a> ?</p><p>Mahalo and <i>Qapla'</i>! <br></p>
